Every Slice Matters, in generous cooperation with Hometown Pizza, is dedicated to making a positive difference in the communities we serve. Every dollar raised is donated to the completion of local, meaningful projects, and the continuous drive to give more. Every Slice Matters is our way of giving back to the friends and neighbors who come through our door every day.
How It Happened
Mike and Mary Jane Foster founded Hometown Pizza more than 30 years ago. They have since built a loyal community of customers and generously contributed to countless fundraising efforts. It is this continued kindness that sparked the initiative for creating our own charitable organization. By leveraging the business relationships of Hometown Pizza (carpenters, plumbers, bankers, attorneys), we are able to vary our community involvement in multiple kinds of meaningful projects. We are also able to use our local connections to identify needs that may otherwise fall through the cracks.
Why It’s Important
Every Slice Matters is an opportunity to make a real and measurable difference by combining the volunteer efforts of Hometown Pizza employees with the generosity of the community. It is this involvement and dedication that demonstrates the power of a small town. We believe that promoting volunteerism not only improves the areas in which we live, but also builds an environment of personal and economic growth.
How It Works
Year-round, various fundraisers and events are held within Hometown Pizza locations and throughout the communities they serve:
Fundraising Cards: Every Slice Matters offers Hometown Pizza coupon cards at a discounted rate for local organizations. The members of the organization then sell the coupon cards to the public and raise funds for their cause.
Golf Scrambles: Local businesses sponsor holes and contribute prizes for silent auctions and raffles. An average of 20 teams join the friendly competition.
Pizza Slices: Paper pizza slices are sold in Hometown Pizza locations to represent community donations.
Throughout the year, the committee reviews project requests and decides which projects will be chosen based on Every Slice Matters Standards and Requirements. Project requests are submitted via our website, and are accepted from the public, as well as community leaders.
Hometown Pizza employees and volunteers complete the selected projects.
